Creamy Comfort - Melkkos...

A winter comfort in a cup, Melkkos is a favorite in South Africa as a dessert, sometimes even a meal or breakfast. Simple, easy to make and timelessly decadent... One of my favorite


In a deep saucepan over a medium heat, heat 8 cups organic milk with a half cup brown sugar till warm. In a mixing bowl, combine a cup of flour, 1 t salt, 2 T ground cinnamon or cassia and 1 t baking powder if you don't use self raising flour. Rub 2 T butter into the mixture, add 2 T organic milk and combine until the mixture has a crumbly consistency.  Add the buttery flour mixture to the warm milk and summer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve hot in tea cups or small bowls, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.
